A World Flight Over Russia

Retail Price: $24.00

By: Brad Butler

In 1992 a group of private pilots circumnavigated the world in their small aircraft, flying over several countries and the Russian landmass.

This World Flight occurred at a moment in history when the Soviet empire had just unraveled, and the entire area was reeling from the shock waves of dramatic change. The author, a World Flight participant, documented the journey.

A World Flight Over Russia

This is the story of that unique aviation adventure with real danger, frustration, courage and teamwork among pilots who could never have imagined what they would encounter.

The author has skillfully woven some startling and interesting historical perspective within this fascinating experience. It is a compelling story. There are also descriptions of physical beauty and intrigue, from the legendary Lake Baikal, the largest fresh water lake in the world, to top-secret Star City 60 miles outside Moscow (not listed on public maps).

The color photographs are stunning Canada, the beauty of Greenland's glaciers, Iceland, England, and then Russia.

A World Flight Over Russia describes how centuries-old policies helped mold the Russian people who, despite hardship, were viewed by the World Flight participants to be typically warm-hearted and generous.

Above all, this is the story of an aviation adventure that likely will never be repeated, and the author explains why, showcasing some remarkable pilots and aircraft under extraordinary circumstances.
